How To Deal With The Stumps In Your Yard

If you have stumps in your yard, you are going to want to get rid of them. Tree stumps can be ugly, and they can be hazardous as well. You are going to want to get rid of the tree stumps in your yard right away.

Have the Stumps Ground Up

The first thing you need to do is have the stumps ground-up. You can hire a tree service company to come out and grind up the stumps for you. They will bring out a stump grinder and grind up the stumps for you. They will charge you a fee for each stump that they grind up on your property.

Before you have the tree company come over to grind up your stumps, make sure that you remove any lawn furniture or equipment that is near the stump. Dig up and remove any rocks near the stump. Rocks can get in the way of the equipment that the tree company will use to grind up the stump and can damage their equipment as well.

Get Rid of the Wood Chips

Second, after the stump have been ground up, you are going to be left with a big pile of wood chips. If you want to be able to grow plants and trees in that area, you are going to need to remove the wood chips.

If the tree was cut down because it was diseased, you are going to want to remove the wood chips completely from your yard because the wood chips could carry diseases in them. If the tree was cut down just because you wanted to make more room and is not diseased, you can use the wood chips around your yard. You can put wood chips around the base of your other trees. You can put wood chips in your flower beds.

Make sure that you dig out all the wood chips. You need to remove all of the wood chips, not just some of them if you want to turn the area where the tree was into an area where vegetation will grow again.

Fill in the Hole

After you get rid of the wood chips, you are going to want to take some really nice topsoil and fill in the hole. Make sure that you use good topsoil to fill in the hole. This will allow you to grow things in the hole again. If the hole is near your yard, put some grass seed over the top of the hole, rake it into the fresh soil, and water the area. Or you can plant some flowers or bushes there. Just make sure that you provide them with ample fertilizer and water.
